During Labor Day weekend '97, Maureen hosted the East Coast version of "The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon" for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. You may have seen a video to "Ordinary Miracles," one of the selections from Maureen's latest CD, "The Music Never Ends." As you already know, Maureen is donating 50% of the profits from this CD to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Also recently Maureen was interviewed by former CNN reporter Mary Alice Williams for the Odyssey Network for a show called "Quiet Triumph." This is scheduled to air in September.
Maureen deservedly takes August as a vacation month. She is reportedly considering what her next recording project is going to be. According to her AOL chat, she said "...it will probably be a celebration of the music and lyrics of some great American composer, anyone from Joni Mitchell to Cole Porter."

Maureen scheduled an intimate evening with 50 lucky fans to talk to her LIVE and ON-LINE! On June 26, at 10 pm Eastern Standard Time, Maureen answered questions like the ones you've been leaving in the Guestbook and anything else you might have wanted to ask her about her career, her latest CD and what lies ahead! The transcript from Maureen's America Online chat has been posted on AOL. Log onto AOL. Type in the keyword "liveguide". Click on the Search icon. Then click on Search For Transcripts. Then type in "maureen mcgovern". There is also a biography of Maureen on the transcript.
Maureen is busy making lots of television and radio appearances promoting her new CD. In early April, New Yorkers heard Maureen on the Jonathan Schwartz show. Nationally, during the summer, Maureen was on "The Today Show," and "The Crier Report" (FOX) & "Regan Woman" (also on FOX.) Look for Maureen in the near future on "CBS This Morning" and check this page often for the latest new!
Maureen's first of two "Duckman" episodes, "Vuuvk, as in Duck" is scheduled to air May 10, 1997 on USA. Maureen is a guest voice on this very funny animated series and even sings in one of the two episodes that will air this season. Check your cable channel for the title of the "Duckman" episode.
The Music Never Ends....Maureen's newest CD has been released to rave reviews! If you haven't purchased it yet, for shame, for shame!

Maureen appeared on "Rosie" on April 16, 1997 and sang "How Do You Keep the Music Playing" from her new CD! While Maureen's appearance may have appeared abbreviated to her many devoted fans, have heart because Rosie has invited Maureen back to the show! We'll let you know when! Hope you didn't miss this big event!!!
Also, Maureen appeared on "Rolonda" during May along with Joey Heatherton, Millie Jackson and others.
Maureen and Company had such a great reception at the Cinegrill in Los Angeles that she returned for an encore engagement during mid-April! Maureen received great reviews when she performed there earlier this year as well!!!

In December, Maureen participated in "Ira Gershwin at 100," a
celebration at Carnegie Hall.
This aired on PBS during the week of March 7. Among the show's highlights, Maureen sang
"Long
Ago and Far Away."
Maureen participated in a Dallas concert with Andrew Litton and the
Dallas
Symphony. She joined Tommy
Tune, the Manhattan Rhythm Kings and Jubilant Sykes in wishing a "Happy Birthday George
Gershwin."
Maureen sings "By Strauss, Love Walked In/Embraceable You" and others. This is aired on PBS
in
June 1997 but if you missed it,
look for it in replays during the summer.
Immediately after her engagement at Rainbow and Stars, Maureen flew
to
London by request to peform at London's Royal Albert Hall
and performed for a BBC/A&E special that is also an Ira Gershwin tribute. The highlight of the
show
of course is Maureen
singing "Little Jazz Bird." This is tentatively scheduled to air in Spring of 1997 (probably May.)
