Maureen McGovern's World Wide Web Guestbook
January - April 1999

Hi! I've been following Maureen's career since the disco days. I have only been able to find 8
CDs - although I understand her Christmas album is coming out as a CD in Y2K. I think it would
be great if she were to do more composer themed albums including Andrew Lloyd Weber (she'll
blow away Sarah Brightman) or Stephen Sondheim.

Hi Maureen: I've loved your voice ever since I first heard you sing "The Morning After" &
"We May Never Love Like This Again." I still have 3 of your original record albums (as in
ALBUMS); my favorite is the Academy Award Performance album...your renditions of "You'll
Never Know" & "Lullaby Of Broadway" were out of the stratosphere!
I'm also a native Ohioan (born in Mansfield in 1950). I'm now a regular contributor to Ohio
Magazine & have a book out on writing listed on barnesandnoble.com I teach writing greeting
cards on the Internet (www.writersclub.com) & soon will have my own web page.
So, I wish you continued success. I, too, am an animal lover; have had cats, mostly strays &
orphans.
Take care,

Maureen, Maureen , Maureen!
I have seen Celine Dion's concert(bellows too much) I have
seen Linda Eder's (sings well but just doesnt have the Maureen beauty)
Saw Vicki Carr's performance(not in MG's league)
What I am trying to say is WHY DOESNT SOMEONE SPONSOR OUR DIVA FOR A
TELEVISED CONCERT?
What are they waiting for? All these singers who just dont have half of what our Maureen has
have these big 'ol concerts!
Where is our Maureen's?
Brian Daher, do you know of anything in the works?
Sarah Brightman is one of my favorite singers, and her concert was very enoyable. Maureen could
do one along those lines that show up her diverse singing.
Maureen could do Glitter and be Gay, her chart singles,Faure's Pavane. Her pop stuff from "State
of the heart" her Broadway stuff. MG would just blow 'em away!!!!!
Does anybody out there feel the same way I do?
Maureen...how do you feel?
Love,
Sue

Dear Maureen,
Greetings from London! I was first introduced to your CDs by Chris Goepfert of Dress Circle and
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy listening to your CDs. My personal favourites are
"Over The Rainbow" from 'Out of This World' and most of the songs from 'The Pleasure of His
Company.' As a cabaret enthusiast, I've been collecting many CDs over the past few years, and I
must say that your latest album is one of the best cabaret albums that I've added to my collection
in 1998. No words can explain the rapture and joy you bring to "Bring Back My Dreamer," one of
the most beautiful songs I've encountered recently. Congratulations on your well-deserved
Grammy nomination!
Warmest Regards,
Michael

I don't remember much about what it felt like being seven, but I remember the music. (Delta
Dawn?)
A 32-year-old software engineer by day, and a techno/house-producer-wannabe at night, I've
often reflected upon the sappy pop tune tune that ruled the (AM) airwaves back then, and
permanently etched itself in the recesses of my brain.
This is the second time this year that I've taken to the net in search of soundtrack information for
The Poseidon Adventure, with the ultimate goal of finding sheet music for that song: "...if we can
hold on through the night..."
Finally, while listening to this web site's syncopated version of Maureen McGovern's The Morning
After tonight, a chill ran up my spine, and tears welled up in my eyes.
Has it really been 25 years?

Several weeks ago I was visiting my parents in San Diego. One afternoon we were visiting
Old Town. As I entered one of the old, restored buildings my first impression was the nice music
that was playing in the background. I didn’t pay much more attention to it as there was much to
see and it was getting to be late in the day. When I returned to the entrance of the store I noticed
my parents speaking with the sales clerk. Not only had the music caught their attention but they
were querying the clerk about the music and if it was for the sale. The clerk had pulled out your
CD ‘The Music Never Ends’ in answer to their question. She informed them that it was her
personal copy and not for sale. We left the store knowing that the closest music store would be
our next stop once we left Old Town.
This CD is incredible. I listen to most of my music as I am involved with other projects around
my home. I cannot listen to this CD without stopping what I am doing as it calls for my complete
attention. The music is luscious. The lyrics are incredible. Oftentimes I read the lyrics along with
the music to catch every word but that is not necessary with your performance on this CD. The
Bergmans craft their lyrics with such a genuine, intelligent flair. May I state how impressed I am
with Mike Renzi’s work! If the arrangement is done properly, the performer is freed to reach
even greater heights. The two of you are a wonderful duo and I look forward to more artistry
from the two of you.
Prior to the purchase of this recent CD, I only had one other CD of yours. It was your Christmas
CD. Of all my Christmas music, this has always been my favorite. Thank you for your efforts in
its creation. It has brought me countless hours of enjoyment.

Maureen- I have the warmest memories of you from your performance in Galveston, Tex. I'm
the distinguished looking lawyer who fell under your spell when chatting with you afterwards.
There is no debate concerning your marvelous talent, but to me your sweetness and sincereity as a
warm human being is so attactive. What a wonderful match we would make. If you do read your
website comments, know that this one is from a person who would really like to know you for
you. If you reply, I'll be at any destination you say to continue our communication.

Dear Maureen, what a THRILL to see and hear you perform at Carnegie Hall!!! When you
sing you light up the stage. Thank you for signing my copy of your Music Never Ends CD, which
I must have listened to 100 times - I'm going to treasure it even more! What I love most about
your singing is your impeccable taste and ability to tell a story with so much feeling. I admire the
way you don't just sing to sound pretty, but to covey the power of the lyrics - what a perfect
vehicle for the songs of the Bergmans! I have to admit, it takes some effort on my part to listen to
anyone else sing any of the songs on your CD - your interpretations are so difinitive. Finally, I
have to add that I love your interpretation of Gershwin's Summertime - it sets my soul in flight
(you owe me some frequent flyer mileage!!!). Thank you, Maureen, and PLEASE keep the CDs
coming. Oh yeah, almost forgot - your Pleasure of His Company CD is an absolute GEM!!!! If
anyone finds out how many times I listen to it I'm going to be locked away...

Hi, Maureen! Saw you at Carnegie last night. You were your usual brilliant self! The lyrical
poetry of the Bergmans was made for your fantastic vocal instrument. Wish you could have
performed more of their works. However, the whole show was wonderful. It was a treat to see
Harry Belafonte, too. Your duet with Michel Legrand was adorable. But, he should have let you
remain on the stage with him as he sang and played! You were so cute! Roseann and I waited a
bit after the concert; they finally made us leave. Usher said you were not coming out; that there
was a back stage list! Guess Roseann and I were not on it! But, we loved the show and can't
wait for you to appear in concert somewhere close. We miss you. You are so gracious and
wonderful to your fans. Congratulations on the Grammy nod and hope to see you sometime
soon! A big kiss to Da Dawgs (did you wear your Yorkie Loops yet?) and a hello and hugs and
kisses to Jennifer, too. Love, Hazel & Roseann P.S. Mike Renzi was terrific! Thoroughly

Ms. McGovern, all my life I have been waiting for the moment when I'll
get to see you perform live. I have kept a number of your recordings and
I must say that your CD "The Music Never Ends: The Lyrics of Alan and
Marilyn Bergman" is one I keep closest to my heart. I'm a huge fan of yours
and of the Bergmans and when I found out that you (along with other great
artists) were performing the songs of the Bergmans at Carnegie Hall, it was
like a dream come true! I just got home from the concert and I just had the
most wonderful time of my life! Your voice is just so pure and you sing with so
much passion and that's what I love most. I would really love to watch you
perform again tomorrow night at the Lincoln Center but unfortunately, I can't.
But I do hope to see you here in the city again SOON!! Finally, congratulations
on your Grammy nomination!! So, I just want to thank you for making my dream
come true.

I am still awaiting the release of the "Handel" album she is reptued to

Friends who love opera and only opera have come to love her

A warm and heart felt THANK YOU for the countless hours you have, through the special
gifts of your incredible crystal voice and warm engaging personality, brightened my days and
nights. Though familiar with you before "Another Woman in Love," this recording absolutely and
immediately became one of my favorite all-time recordings, a placement it still holds, sounding as
fresh today as the first time I heard it. Your performances at Michaels Pub (if my memory serves,
regarding location) and Rainbow & Stars Lounge were sparkling jewels during my NYC tenure. I
most recently (albeit toooooo long passed) heard you in LA, on 2/7/98 (you may recall that
DREADFULLY rainy night of) at the Aid for AIDS Benefit. Your performance was
FLAWLESS, even after setting sound levels and rehearsing in a space that became so totally
rained out. You were MAGICAL!!
I find it unbelievable that there are still people who know you only as the performer of "Morning
After" and I take pride (patting hand on back) at the growing number of new fans I've turned on
to your talent.
For the record, or CD in this case, I think my favorite cut would have to be "On My Way To
You." To hear it is to gain understanding and peaceful contentment in this uncertain game that is
"life." And not for anything, but I have to tell you that Babs should have studied YOUR
recording before blasting it out in hers. (But, well, what can you say...)
I'm thrilled you have again recorded a CD of just your voice and solo piano. I just now found out
about it by checking out your web site (for the first time) and I can assure you that Tower
Records will be my first stop upon leaving my office. Thank you in advance; I KNOW it will be
fantastic!!
Please come back to LA. We need to hear you.
Sincerely and affectionately,
Dean Taylor

Maureen: Whenever I let someone listen to your music he or she gets "hooked" right away.
Your singing is so close to perfection--every pitch, every trill, is right on, and the interpretive art
is without equal in this day when so many equate screaming and shouting with singing. It is the
"pleasure of YOUR company" I love. I look forward to seeing you in person someday.

love your "Another Woman in Love" recording...especially 'Could Have Been a Sailor" and'

well and I am always so excited to hear you perform or record...you are so gifted! I hunted hi and

love your version of "What more do I need?" from the Wolftrap concert.

I'm the composer of Maureen's two Academy award winning records, "The Morning After"
and "We May Never Love Like This Again." Right from the start, I was enthralled by her
magnificent, mesmerizing, flawless voice. Going to Number One with a song is thrilling enough --
but having that Number One record turn out to be a vehicle of vocal artistry is the icing on the
cake. Maureen lifted my two songs to a plateau of glory that still surpasses any other rendition
I've had in my career by any other recording artist. On top of that, she's one of the nicest people
I've ever met, someone I'm proud to call a friend. Right now, I have a bestselling book entitled
"Titanic Adventure," based on the experiences of my wife Jennifer Carter, who was the first
woman in the world to dive down to the Titanic. It seems only fitting that I would write about
the Titanic, another "disaster" story after composing two "disaster" songs. And it all began
because the world's greatest vocalist launched my career with performances that grow more
exquisite and memorable with the years. For those, I remain eternally grateful.
My website (in combination with Jennifer Carter) is www.Titanicexpert.com. E mail:

Maureen-filled 1999 with lots of MOVIES, MUSIC and other appearances!!!
Keep writing those guestbook entries, Maureen reads these on a regular basis! If you'd like to
have your name added to the U.S. Postal Mailing List that Maureen's management maintains,
