Hi Maureen! A few years ago, you came to Owings Mills and performed at the Gordon Center. You were fabulous! Unfortunately, I thought they did a poor job of advertising your show, and the turnout was not what it should have been- in my opinion. I hope this did not affect your wanting to return - either to the Gordon Center, or better yet- to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall which is where you should have been! I'm a big fan, and hope you will come back and perform for us again. Your 50-something-year-old fan, Carol

I saw Little Women last nite and as other people have said they should add songs for you. Both Katie and I had emergency stomach surgery 3 weeks ago so this was great therapy. One question- when will the show official open and is it a limited run? We'll look for you at the next cabaret in NYC. Katie(wheelchair) and Steve Mandel

I never do things like this, BUT....Little Women is absolutely delightful. HOWEVER....your soaring Act 2 "Days of Plenty" needs to be moved DOWNSTAGE. The staging is robbing you and the composer of a truly brilliant moment. THANKS!

Hi Maureen. I wanted to tell you what a wonderful singer that you are. I first became a Fan when i was a young boy Watching the Towering Inferno. when i lived in San Francisco. I love all your songs but "WE MAY NEVER LOVE LIKE THIS AGAIN" is my favorite song. When i was in college i did i dance ballet number with my dance partner using that song ,and it was beautiful.I got so many complements on the song that my teacher used it for the opening of our final show. That was back 1992. anyway I would like to know when you will be here in Miami, florida? I would come to all your concerts and tell everyone about you so that theyu would join me as well. I hope to hear from you soon.and thanks for reading my letter.Love your fan J.R. Navarro

I had the pleasure of seeing you tonight in "Little Women" I have been a fan since your "movie theme" queen days and saw you in concert during Bethlehem's Musicfest years ago. I am a local thesbian who had worked with an old friend of yours, Don Horton, who is no longer with us! Anyway, loved your performance, but, did not get enough of you! You need another song, loved the witch, by the way! Great job on "Days of Plenty" half expected you to "bring it home" but, guess ending works for show. Favorite song, "Can You Read My Mind." !MERDE!

Well I guess from my name, we have a little something in common. I remember when you first came to the public eye. I can't tell you, how many times I was asked if I was you. I would also get asked if I was George McGovern's daughter. I really went through an identity crisis. I find it very funny that we have the same name. I share a birthday with Cher; but I cannot sing at all. As you can also see from my name, I added the name of Sibley, when I got married. I now have a wonderful husband named Bob; and we have a terrific son named Daniel. I would love to hear you sing "Danny Boy" sometime. Thanks for making it fun to have the name Maureen McGovern. Take care. Maureen

Fav. song to listen to - "Little Jazz Bird" Fav. song to sing along with - "I like you your nice" and "Right as Rain" Maureen (Ms. McGovern is more PC I suppose..lol), I have become a huge fan over the last 2 + years. I'm a former musical theatre major, and now really have a love for the Cabaret scene. I was introduced to you by Paul Renard (vocal coach/pianist - Chicago)who has worked with you in the past in NYC I believe. Through you and Paul, I have a new love for singing again - and a better tone and technique. In short, you are THE best female singer out there -- period. Barbra who?? I look forward to getting to know more about you personally going forward. Congrats on your new role on Broadway! Come to Chicago!! All my best! Dear Maureen, Happy New Year from Scotland. I've been a fan for many years, since hearing an album track on BBC Radio 2 about 15 years ago, but only have 3 of your CDs, ("Another Women In Love", "Baby I'm Yours" and my favourite, "Naughty Baby"), which are hard to get in the shops here. Thanks to the internet, I'll be able to track down some more. Other favorite singers include Margaret Whiting and the sadly missed Jeri Southern. Would love to see you in concert if you ever get a tour which includes Scotland. Well I can hope. Best wishes Russell Cowe Russell Cowe

Happy Holidays, I'm so excited for you to be back on Broadway. "Little Women" is my favorite story of my youth. I hope to come to New York to see the play early March or late Feb. Jay and I would love to see you if possible while we are there but I know you may be to busy with the play. I'll let you know what night we are coming and if there is any chance while we there it would be great. I've been hoping you would come back to Portland as you did for the Christmas show. I have the picture of us at dinner in my office. I wish you all the very best on your opening night and do wish I could be there to see you in all your fabulous glory. Break a leg. Chris PS I'm so sorry for your loss this year and I truly understand as my step father is under hospice care now. Hugs to you Maureen, (chicken lips).

I love the extraordinarily beautiful, soothing silvery sound of your voice, delivery, sensitivity, expression, choice of music. In short, I love YOU! I am listening to you on my computer at this moment. I live in the Washington, DC area (Maryland suburbs) and was hoping you would be performing in the "neighborhood" sometime soon. Don't see that on your schedule. Is there any possibility you will be in the vicinity in 2005? In any event, Happy and Healthy New Year...and the best of luck to you. You are a treasure!

Maureen, I saw "Little Women" on Saturday and was blown away! I feared that my long awaited anticipation might have diminished my enjoyment. I could not have been more wrong. Your lavish and generous praise of Sutton Foster's "Jo" is well deserved. She truly is the embodiment of what Louisa May Alcott intended Jo to be. Your portrayal of "Marmee", so subtly complex, is the thread that binds the weave of this timeless story. Brava, Diva!

I have loved Maureen and her talent since I found her Christmas CD years ago... Her voice is breathtaking! I agree with the late great Mel Torme... hot since Yma Sumac (yeah, I am old enough to remember her) Last Night I saw the first preview of "Little Women" and it was wonderful. the vocals are so powerful, actors really make the story come alive and of course Loved Maureen (Though she needs more solos!) It's has a lot of humor interwoven in the classic Louisa May Alcott story.. I spoke with Maureen after the show ( she came out holding a big box, saw us waiting, went back in, put the box down and came to sign autographs. I told her the her rendition of Peter Allen's "I Could Have Been A Sailor" is incredible. Why doesn't she do a "Peter Allen Lives" Album.. what a combination.. Peter and Maureen. There IS a peter allen website and I can guarantee lots of sales. Stay well Maureen and thank so much for sharing your gifter voice and sweetness with all of us. My favorite song: Geez.... the first song that hit my heart and soul was/is I Wouldn't Change a Thing That Happened On My Way To you. May the peace of this season continue through the year for you and those you hold dear. Dear Ms. McG, Just in case you really do see these things -- 25 years ago, I worked as a bartender in a bar/restaurant in Studio City, CA, called "Keith's Cafe" (a gay establishment). We had a jukebox, and one of the selections was your recording of "Can You Read My Mind?" But, I was elementally and essentially taken with the "flip" side -- "You Love Me Too Late." I believe you wrote the lyrics for this song. It has never appeared on any of your albums, yet I have been captivated by this song since the first time I heard it. I have periodically searched for it since -- in second-hand stores and on the Internet (not continuously, mind you, but whenever memory has struck me -- 25 years!). "Okay, Rex Dana, get to the point!" Two evenings ago, I had my e-bay "virgin" experience, and I querried for this item (it took a while and some finagling, I assure you), and I did find a 45 rpm copy of "Can You Read My Mind?" with "You Love Me Too Late" on the "B" side. (Caveat Emptor! A reissue or concurrent issue of the 45 rpm recording of "Can You Read My Mind?" has "Different Worlds" as the "B" side!) I purchased the recording for $.99, can you believe it? -- with a shipping/handling fee of $3.24! Those fools, this "lost" recording is a bargain at any price! However, now it is, at long last, mine! I am hopeful of attending your March 18, 2005, performance in the Paramount Theatre in Rutland, Vermont. "Break a leg" with "Little Women."

Dearest Maureen, Just saw this on the website and it brought back such memories. Sounds as if you're doing very well. I was trying to explain to these young kids around here how we used to go see you sing all over the area. We certainly miss seeing and hearing you. All is well here. Two of my children are married and I have two beautiful grandchildren. The other two are home, one is teaching and going for her master's degree and my other son lives at home. Jean is fine and the grandmother of five. We're all still working and taking care of mom. John is still teaching (I don't think he'll ever retire). He would probably drive me crazy if he did. We'd love to hear from you so if you're ever in town give us a call. I thought your sister, Patty, was still in the area, but I could be wrong.

Dear Maureen - I saw you on Nov. 7th in Wilton, CT. Throughout the years I've seen you perform many times at the Algonquin as well as other venues. As one of many, I feel your voice is ethereal. We met at the end of your concert and at the very end of your signing CD's where I had you sign your Arlen album. My favorite singer singing my favorite songwriter. It doesn't get any better. Your version of 'A Sleepin' Bee is just otherwordly! Thank you for recording this little known gem. Finally, I was the person who told you of my then 5 year old daughter recognizing the song and your recording of 'Little Bluebird' when she heard John Pizzarelli sing it back in 1999. I can't wait to introduce her to your version of 'A Sleepin' Bee.'

Well, Mis Diva you outdone yourself this time ! I went to your Dallas concert at the Myerson on Saturday night, was on the left hand side of the front row and saw you being your usual magnificent self, you didn't sell yourself short at all and the acapella version of My Funny Valentine was so haunting and eerie like, I loved it as well as your comedic talents as well esp. your pre-menopausal joke :) Would had stayed to have you sign a CD but I didn't bring any mine with me, especially since I have almost every CD, album and 45 you put out :) hehe .. I still can't wait to see you come again and then, hopefully I will get to meet you at long last after being one of your truest fans since 1972. Hi Maureen, I was in the audience last night at the opening night of "Little Women". What a wonderful experience! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is a first class Broadway production with fabulous sets, costumes, and music. I am an employee of Duke University and was very proud that we sponsored something so wonderful. Maureen, I'm originally from Boardman, Ohio and went to BHS with you (one year behind you). Also your Aunt Helen worked with my parents at Superior Beverage. I've enjoyed following your career throughout the years and was thrilled to finally (!) see you in person last night. Your acting and singing were flawless. I keep coming back to "Out of this World." I bought the CD after seeing you in concert at Rainbow & Stars (before it closed!!). I was living in NYC and went with a friend. Many times that evening, the audience just looked at one another with expressions indicating that what they were experiencing was simply unbelievable. You have such a unique way with these Carmichael/Arlen/Gershwin/you name it songs! Now I'm living in Hell--Southern West Virginia, where my mother needs my support. At least I have exquisite memories of your performance, and many of your CDs. "Out of this World" is definitely the finest (in my opinion). Lush in some places and quite sparing in others--but always just perfect. I'm so very happy that you continue to perform and record and thrill your many fans. Chuck P.S. So this should be a query? Okay, so of all your albums, which is the most critically acclaimed? Which is your personal favorite?

Neither of us wants to be the one to end it. The Bergmans along with the talented Mike Renzi make this CD an absolute classic for all time. And how grateful she was after that evening most especially for allowing yourself to have pixs with them and singing ARAW ARAW GABI GABI to our amazement. Too bad I was the photographer that night. But I'll do everything to cheer my Moms condition at this point. I'll have mine next time hopefully. We Filipinos love and adore you so much. You are our musical Icon. And hearing you live for the first time makes indeed such a difference. We were all familiar with those standard pieces that you've included in your repertoire but its like hearing it for the first time. What makes it different, is you dont just sing your heart out, but you give your soul along with it. And conveys the pain, the sorrow, the joy that goes along with every each song. What a way of storytelling few great performers can only deliver.I can still remember the Bacharach song which you have turn ito a ballad. I surely wont miss the next oppurtunity to witness you again here in NY area or maybe in New Hope. I have been your fan since AND THE ENVELOPE PLEASE album for more than 30 yrs ago. You have the best rendition of FOR ALL WE KNOW. I hope they would release again your first 4 albums in CD form. That would be such a treat. And my favorite song is your national anthem- THE MORNING AFTER especially the new arrangement in your WORK OF HEART cd. And as for your Broadways LITTLE WOMEN, what a bday treat and Christmas gift for me this December. We wish you all the success for your Broadway return. We're already planning to buy early tickets for that show. All the best for you and the entire cast. You are so gifted and such a warmth person. Again for everything, thank you.... Sincerely, Raoul

Hi Maureen, I have been a fan of yours for many years and I would like to thank you for sharing your talents with all of us. I have a growing collection of your work, however, I found out recently that you did a PBS special in Janurary 1987 called Sentimental Swing: The music of Tommy Dorsey. I think Mel Torme hosted the show. I have looked for this tape or video but have had no luck. I even asked the UCLA film archives and they don't have it. Yet when I type it in Google search engine your name is associated with it via "Maureen McGovern Television." Sooo, I was wondering if you know how and where I can get a copy of this special. Thanks again Maureen for your giving all of us wonderful music and memories. Your loyal fan, Gary Freeman

Hi Maureen - I have long admired your wonderful voice and have listened so many times to one of my favourite albums - "Naughty Baby" - no-one sings Gershwin like you. I plan to be in New York City from November 3rd until November 17th and was hoping to catch one of your concerts. Can you advise if you're in New York at that time. Warmest good wishes, Joan Hardy

Hi Maureen, I was one of the lucky ones to see your show last night. Amazing! "I'd Rather Be Sailing" was so beautiful..."A House is Not a Home", on and on. I can't pick a favorite . Your choice of songs and the way you changed moods was outstanding. I only wish you had recorded that show LIVE so I could listen to you sing each and every song again. You're a wonderful story teller. Glad to hear you are coming back to Broadway this winter. You've been gone way too long. God bless you and that amazing voice of yours.

(My favorite Maureen rendition is "Right as the Rain") Is there any chance of Maureen's returning to the Garrison Keillor show for one or more guest spots? Whenever she did appear, she turned a good show into a great one.

Dear Maureen: I just came home from seeing and hearing you at Au Bar in NYC. You were wonderful! I have been to several of your shows with my wife, and this time took my brother since she could not make this one. We just wanted to tell you that you are such an inspiration to us since we are also musicians/singers. If you are ever in the Queens/Nassau Long Island area, we would love for you to come over to our house for a short visit and perhaps a cup of tea/coffee. May God continue to bless you with many more years of good health and beautiful singing. All my best, Tim Brown

Ms. McGovern, Your show is just fabulous. I am so lucky to have been there last night. Didn't know you were also such a wonderful comedian. I had tears in my eyes laughing as you sang "Lime Jello". "Sailing" is such a beautiful song. You must record it. Can't wait to see you in "Little Women". Never saw you in an acting role but know you must be awsome if last night was any indication of what you can do. Good luck to you. Nicole

What a beautiful night! Last night's opening of the new show was the most incredible evening I spent. What a better way to spend a warm summer night, (though there was rain, which seems to be evident in many of her opening nights). With a vast variety of songs from a vast variety of composers both living and deceased, plus some new stuff, it was an evening to remember. Having seen all hers shows since 1982, she always manages to thrill, each one having a little extra special. The audience didn't stop cheering and never wanting it to end. She took each song, many that you have many times, and makes them sound as if they were written onlly for her. This beaufiful but quaint room, has everything to offer, and a great menu to boot. Run, don't walk, to not miss this latest presentation. Maryann PS HOW LUCKY WE ARE!!!!!

I heard you had a bit of sore throat Saturday night, but none of us could tell. Loved the show. Your song selection, arrangements and delivery are always the best. You make it look easy. Too many great songs are never heard today. Thanks for making listening a joy again.

Run, don't walk to get tickets to see Ms. McGovern's new Cabaret Show. She is definitely THE consummate performer! What range, what versatility, what a wonderful instrument she has. It is hard to pick a favorite from the show. The show is sultry and fun. If you missed Ms. McGovern at "Odettes" and want to spend a fabulous evening with a great talent, get to Au Bar in New York City, and see Maureen's new Cabaret show. It is fabulous.

I have been a long time fan and I play your CD's over and over. I gues my favorite song is the theme song from "Superman Movie". Such a beautiful song. I saw you in concert in 1992 with Mel Torme. I took my mother for her birthday. She had been ill for a long time, she passed away 4 months later. But I have such wonderful memories of your concert and how my mom loved it so much! I am so happy that I took her that night and how it gave her so much happiness. Would love you see you again in concert soon. Sincerely, Becky McClure

After being a fan for thirty years, I finally had the opportunity to see Maureen live last night at the Cabaret at Odette's. Her performance exceeded all expectations. What a voice, and what a consummate performer! I was staggered by her range and versatility, as well as her gift for scat singing! She made each song into a moving three-act play. While the highlights were too many to name, I was blown away by her rendition of "Anyone Who Had a Heart". The ferocity and intensity with which she delivered this Bacharach song made me feel as if I were hearing it for the first time. Thank you, Maureen, for a memorable evening!
