Da Diva opened the PBS telecast of "A Capitol Fourth 1999" with Irving Berlin's "This Is A Great Country". Maureen also performed a centennial salute to Hoagy Carmichael and payed tribute to her friend and mentor, the late Mel Torme, by singing "Stardust".

 

Maureen closed the show with a rousing rendition of "God Bless America". She was joined by saxophonist Kenny G, singers Jo Dee Messina, and Nell Carter, Host Barry Bostwick, Senator John Glenn and the Temptations Revue.
