"The Bengal Tiger's Ball" made its east coast premier on April 1, 1999 at the Family Classics Stage of the Civic Theatres of Central Florida, co-sponsored by Walt Disney Productions. This original theatrical piece was conceived by internationally acclaimed vocalist Maureen McGovern and written by four-time Emmy Award nominee Hester Mundis with original music by Maureen McGovern and lyrics by Mary Grace Dembeck and Judy Barron, directed by Ellen Jones.

The story revolves around an insecure young girl named Melinda, who feels like an outcast until she is swept away on a series of exciting, hilarious adventures by the eccentric intergalactic reporter (guardian alien-in-disguise ) "Hoozie Whatsit Whatcha McCallit."

Melinda learns that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and your dreams. The "BTB" is a beautiful and inspiring story for children that celebrates personal victories (large and small) and encourages kids to reach for the moon and embrace the possibilities in life .

Maureen McGovern was artist-in-residence at The Civic Theatres of Central Florida from April 1 through May 14, 1999.

"The Bengal Tiger's Ball" starred Maureen McGovern as "Hoozie" and Francessca Battistelli as "Melinda."
